Chapter 14

14:1  Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

to doubtful

for decisions of doubts, i.e. doubts about meats, etc. The church has no authority to decide questions of personal liberty in things not expressly forbidden in Scripture. Romans 14:2-6.

14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

kingdom See, Galatians 4:9-11; Colossians 2:20-23. (See Scofield "Matthew 6:33") .

righteousness (See Scofield "Romans 10:10") .

14:23  And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

damned condemned, i.e. as in Romans 14:22.
