1 Chronicles 28:1-10 [ Verse 3 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 And David assembled (8686) all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered (8764) to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem. 2 Then David the king stood up (8799) upon his feet, and said (8799), Hear (8798) me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build (8800) an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready (8689) for the building (8800): 3 But God said (8804) unto me, Thou shalt not build (8799) an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed (8804) blood. 4 Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose (8799) me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen (8804) Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked (8804) me to make me king (8687) over all Israel: 5 And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given (8804) me many sons,) he hath chosen (8799) Solomon my son to sit (8800) upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel. 6 And he said (8799) unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build (8799) my house and my courts: for I have chosen (8804) him to be my son, and I will be his father. 7 Moreover I will establish (8689) his kingdom for ever, if he be constant (8799) to do (8800) my commandments and my judgments, as at this day. 8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep (8798) and seek (8798) for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess (8799) this good land, and leave it for an inheritance (8689) for your children after you for ever. 9 And thou, Solomon my son, know (8798) thou the God of thy father, and serve (8798) him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth (8802) all hearts, and understandeth (8688) all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek (8799) him, he will be found (8735) of thee; but if thou forsake (8799) him, he will cast thee off (8686) for ever. 10 Take heed (8798) now; for the LORD hath chosen (8804) thee to build (8800) an house for the sanctuary: be strong (8798), and do (8798) it.
