1 Corinthians 14:6-14 [ Verse 11 in Original: Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
6  Now, brethren, if I come (5632) unto you speaking (5723) with tongues, what shall I profit (5692) you, except I shall speak (5661) to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? 7 And even things without life giving (5723) sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give (5632) a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known (5701) what is piped (5746) or harped (5746)? 8 For * * if the trumpet give (5632) an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself (5695) to the battle? 9 So likewise ye, except ye utter (5632) by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known (5701) what is spoken (5746)? for ye shall (5704) speak (5723) into the air. 10 There are (5748), it may be (5630), so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification * (5625). 11 Therefore if I know (5762) not the meaning of the voice, I shall be (5704) unto him that speaketh (5723) a barbarian, and he that speaketh (5723) shall be a barbarian unto me. 12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are (5748) zealous of spiritual gifts, seek (5720) that ye may excel (5725) to the edifying of the church. 13 Wherefore let him that speaketh (5723) in an unknown tongue pray (5737) that he may interpret (5725). 14 For if I pray (5741) in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth (5736), but my understanding is (5748) unfruitful.
