1 Samuel 18:6-11 [ Verse 11 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
6 And it came to pass as they came (8800), when David was returned (8800) from the slaughter (8687) of the Philistine, that the women came out (8799) of all cities of Israel, singing (8800) and dancing, to meet (8800) king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. 7 And the women answered (8799) one another as they played (8764), and said (8799), Saul hath slain (8689) his thousands, and David his ten thousands. 8 And Saul was very wroth (8799), and the saying displeased * (8799) him; and he said (8799), They have ascribed (8804) unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed (8804) but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? 9 And Saul eyed (8802) David from that day and forward. 10 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came (8799) upon Saul, and he prophesied (8691) in the midst of the house: and David played (8764) with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand. 11 And Saul cast (8686) the javelin; for he said (8799), I will smite (8686) David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out (8735) of his presence twice.
