1 Samuel 1:19-28 [ Verse 23 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
19 And they rose up in the morning early (8686), and worshipped (8691) before the LORD, and returned (8799), and came (8799) to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew (8799) Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered (8799) her. 20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived (8799), that she bare (8799) a son, and called (8799) his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked (8804) him of the LORD. 21 And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up (8799) to offer (8800) unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow. 22 But Hannah went not up (8804); for she said (8804) unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned (8735), and then I will bring (8689) him, that he may appear (8738) before the LORD, and there abide (8804) for ever. 23 And Elkanah her husband said (8799) unto her, Do (8798) what seemeth thee good; tarry (8798) until thou have weaned (8800) him; only the LORD establish (8686) his word. So the woman abode (8799), and gave her son suck (8686) until she weaned (8800) him. 24 And when she had weaned (8804) him, she took him up (8686) with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought (8686) him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young. 25 And they slew (8799) a bullock, and brought (8686) the child to Eli. 26 And she said (8799), Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood (8737) by thee here, praying (8692) unto the LORD. 27 For this child I prayed (8694); and the LORD hath given (8799) me my petition which I asked (8804) of him: 28 Therefore also I have lent (8689) him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent (8803) to the LORD. And he worshipped (8691) the LORD there.
