1 Samuel 25:2-11 [ Verse 10 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
2 And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing (8800) his sheep in Carmel. 3 Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb. 4 And David heard (8799) in the wilderness that Nabal did shear (8802) his sheep. 5 And David sent out (8799) ten young men, and David said (8799) unto the young men, Get you up (8798) to Carmel, and go (8804) to Nabal, and greet * (8804) him in my name: 6 And thus shall ye say (8804) to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast. 7 And now I have heard (8804) that thou hast shearers (8802): now thy shepherds (8802) which were with us, we hurt (8689) them not, neither was there ought missing (8738) unto them, all the while they were in Carmel. 8 Ask (8798) thy young men, and they will shew (8686) thee. Wherefore let the young men find (8799) favour in thine eyes: for we come (8804) in a good day: give (8798), I pray thee, whatsoever cometh (8799) to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David. 9 And when David's young men came (8799), they spake (8762) to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased (8799). 10 And Nabal answered (8799) David's servants, and said (8799), Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many (8804) servants now a days that break away (8693) every man from his master. 11 Shall I then take (8804) my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed (8804) for my shearers (8802), and give (8804) it unto men, whom I know (8804) not whence they be?
