1 Samuel 26:13-20 [ Verse 17 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
13 Then David went over (8799) to the other side, and stood (8799) on the top of an hill afar off; a great space being between them: 14 And David cried (8799) to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying (8800), Answerest (8799) thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered (8799) and said (8799), Who art thou that criest (8804) to the king? 15 And David said (8799) to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept (8804) thy lord the king? for there came (8804) one of the people in to destroy (8687) the king thy lord. 16 This thing is not good that thou hast done (8804). As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept (8804) your master, the LORD'S anointed. And now see (8798) where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster. 17 And Saul knew (8686) David's voice, and said (8799), Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said (8799), It is my voice, my lord, O king. 18 And he said (8799), Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue (8802) after his servant? for what have I done (8804)? or what evil is in mine hand? 19 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear (8799) the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up (8689) against me, let him accept (8686) an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed (8803) be they before the LORD; for they have driven (8765) me out this day from abiding (8692) in the inheritance of the LORD, saying (8800), Go (8798), serve (8798) other gods. 20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall (8799) to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out (8804) to seek (8763) a flea, as when one doth hunt (8799) a partridge in the mountains.
