1 Samuel 26:6-12 [ Verse 6 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
6 Then answered (8799) David and said (8799) to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying (8800), Who will go down (8799) with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said (8799), I will go down (8799) with thee. 7 So David and Abishai came (8799) to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay (8802) sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck (8803) in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay (8802) round about him. 8 Then said (8799) Abishai to David, God hath delivered (8765) thine enemy (8802) into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite (8686) him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once *, and I will not smite him the second time (8799). 9 And David said (8799) to Abishai, Destroy (8686) him not: for who can stretch forth (8804) his hand against the LORD'S anointed, and be guiltless (8738)? 10 David said (8799) furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite (8799) him; or his day shall come (8799) to die (8804); or he shall descend (8799) into battle, and perish (8738). 11 The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth (8800) mine hand against the LORD'S anointed: but, I pray thee, take (8798) thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go (8799). 12 So David took (8799) the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's bolster; and they gat them away (8799), and no man saw (8802) it, nor knew (8802) it, neither awaked (8688): for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen (8804) upon them.
