1 Samuel 31:1-7 [ Verse 7 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Now the Philistines fought (8737) against Israel: and the men of Israel fled (8799) from before the Philistines, and fell down (8799) slain in mount Gilboa. 2 And the Philistines followed hard (8686) upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew (8686) Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul's sons. 3 And the battle went sore (8799) against Saul, and the archers * (8688) * hit (8799) him; and he was sore wounded (8799) of the archers * (8688). 4 Then said (8799) Saul unto his armourbearer * (8802), Draw (8798) thy sword, and thrust me through (8798) therewith; lest these uncircumcised come (8799) and thrust me through (8804), and abuse (8694) me. But his armourbearer * (8802) would (8804) not; for he was sore afraid (8804). Therefore Saul took (8799) a sword, and fell (8799) upon it. 5 And when his armourbearer * (8802) saw (8799) that Saul was dead (8804), he fell (8799) likewise upon his sword, and died (8799) with him. 6 So Saul died (8799), and his three sons, and his armourbearer * (8802), and all his men, that same day together. 7 And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw (8799) that the men of Israel fled (8804), and that Saul and his sons were dead (8804), they forsook (8799) the cities, and fled (8799); and the Philistines came (8799) and dwelt (8799) in them.
