[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
3 And Samuel spake (8799) unto all the house of Israel, saying (8800), If ye do return (8802) unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away (8685) the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare (8685) your hearts unto the LORD, and serve (8798) him only: and he will deliver (8686) you out of the hand of the Philistines. 4 Then the children of Israel did put away (8686) Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served (8799) the LORD only. 5 And Samuel said (8799), Gather (8798) all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray (8691) for you unto the LORD. 6 And they gathered together (8735) to Mizpeh, and drew (8799) water, and poured it out (8799) before the LORD, and fasted (8799) on that day, and said (8799) there, We have sinned (8804) against the LORD. And Samuel judged (8799) the children of Israel in Mizpeh.
