1 Samuel 7:7-12 [ Verse 7 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
7 And when the Philistines heard (8799) that the children of Israel were gathered together (8694) to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up (8799) against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard (8799) it, they were afraid (8799) of the Philistines. 8 And the children of Israel said (8799) to Samuel, Cease (8686) not to cry (8800) unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save (8686) us out of the hand of the Philistines. 9 And Samuel took (8799) a sucking lamb, and offered (8686) it for a burnt offering wholly unto the LORD: and Samuel cried (8799) unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard (8799) him. 10 And as Samuel was offering up (8688) the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near (8738) to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered (8686) with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited (8799) them; and they were smitten (8735) before Israel. 11 And the men of Israel went out (8799) of Mizpeh, and pursued (8799) the Philistines, and smote (8686) them, until they came under Bethcar. 12 Then Samuel took (8799) a stone, and set (8799) it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called (8799) the name of it Ebenezer, saying (8799), Hitherto hath the LORD helped (8804) us.
