Misleadings in Doctrine and Living

1 Paul, an R1 apostle of Christ R2 Jesus according R3 to the commandment of God R3 our Savior, and of Christ R2 Jesus, who is our hope, R4

2 To Timothy, R5 my R5 true child in the faith: Grace, R6 mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ R7 Jesus our Lord.

3 As I urged you upon F1 my departure for Macedonia, R8 remain F2 on at Ephesus R9 so that you may instruct certain men not to teach R10 strange doctrines, 4 nor to pay F3 attention to myths R11 and endless genealogies, R12 which give rise to mere speculation R13 rather than furthering R14 the F4 administration of God which is by faith. 5 But the goal of our instruction R15 F5 is love from R16 a pure heart and a good R17 conscience and a sincere faith. R18 6 For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless R19 discussion, 7 wanting R20 to be teachers R21 of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

8 But we know that the R22 Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that law R23 is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, R24 for the ungodly R25 and sinners, for the unholy and profane, R26 for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and F6 immoral R27 F7 men and F6 homosexuals R28 and F6 kidnappers R29 and F6 liars R30 and F6 perjurers, R31 and whatever else is contrary to sound R32 teaching, 11 according to the R33 glorious gospel of the R34 blessed God, with which I have been entrusted. R35

12 I thank Christ R36 Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened R37 me, because He considered me faithful, putting R38 me into service, 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor R39 and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown R40 mercy because I R41 acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the grace R42 of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith R43 and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 15 It R44 is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ R45 Jesus came into the world to save R46 sinners, among whom I R47 am foremost of all. 16 Yet for this reason I found R48 mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate R49 His perfect patience as an example for those who F8 would believe in Him for eternal life. 17 Now to the King R50 eternal, F9 immortal, R51 invisible, R52 the only R53 God, be R54 honor and glory forever F10 and ever. Amen.

18 This command R55 I entrust to you, Timothy, my R56 son, F11 in accordance with the prophecies R57 previously made concerning you, that by them you fight R58 the good fight, 19 keeping faith R59 and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their R60 F12 faith. 20 Among F13 these are Hymenaeus R61 and Alexander, R62 whom I have handed R63 over to Satan, so that they will be taught R64 not to blaspheme.
