- 11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard (8800) the words of the book of the law, that he rent (8799) his clothes. 12 And the king commanded (8762) Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe (8802), and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying (8800), 13 Go (8798) ye, enquire (8798) of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found (8737): for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled (8738) against us, because our fathers have not hearkened (8804) unto the words of this book, to do (8800) according unto all that which is written (8803) concerning us. 14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went (8799) unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper (8802) of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt (8802) in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed (8762) with her. 15 And she said (8799) unto them, Thus saith (8804) the LORD God of Israel, Tell (8798) the man that sent (8804) you to me, 16 Thus saith (8804) the LORD, Behold, I will bring (8688) evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants (8802) thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read (8804): 17 Because they have forsaken (8804) me, and have burned incense (8762) unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger (8687) with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled (8738) against this place, and shall not be quenched (8799). 18 But to the king of Judah which sent (8802) you to enquire (8800) of the LORD, thus shall ye say (8799) to him, Thus saith (8804) the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard (8804); 19 Because thine heart was tender (8804), and thou hast humbled (8735) thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest (8800) what I spake (8765) against this place, and against the inhabitants (8802) thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent (8799) thy clothes, and wept (8799) before me; I also have heard (8804) thee, saith (8803) the LORD. 20 Behold therefore, I will gather (8802) thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered (8738) into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see (8799) all the evil which I will bring (8688) upon this place. And they brought the king word again (8686).
