Amos 7:1-9 [ Verse 7 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Thus the Lord GOD showed me, and behold, He was forming a locust-swarm R206 when F85 the spring crop began to sprout. And behold, the spring crop was after the king's mowing. F86 2 And it came about, when F87 it had finished R207 eating the vegetation of the land, that I said, "Lord R208 GOD, please pardon! How F88 can Jacob stand, For he is small?" R209 3 The LORD changed R210 F89 His mind about this. "It shall not be," said the LORD. 4 Thus the Lord GOD showed me, and behold, the Lord GOD was calling to contend with them by fire, R211 and it consumed the great deep and began to consume the farm F90 land. 5 Then I said, "Lord R212 GOD, please stop! How R213 can Jacob stand, for he is small?" 6 The LORD changed R214 F91 His mind about this. "This too shall not be," said the Lord GOD. 7 Thus He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing by F92 a vertical F93 wall with a plumb line in His hand. 8 The LORD said to me, "What R215 do you see, Amos?" And I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said, "Behold I am about to put a plumb R216 line In the midst of My people Israel. I will spare R217 F94 them no longer. 9 "The high R218 places of Isaac will be desolated And the sanctuaries R219 of Israel laid waste. Then I will rise R220 up against the house of Jeroboam with the sword."
