Put On the New Self

1 Therefore if you have been raised R139 up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated R140 at the right hand of God. 2 Set R141 F69 your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died R142 and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who R143 is our life, is revealed, then R144 you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

5 Therefore R145 consider F70 the R146 members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, R147 F71 impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts F72 to idolatry. 6 For it is because of these things that the R148 wrath of God will come upon F73 the sons of disobedience, 7 and in R149 them you also once walked, when you were living in F74 them. 8 But now you also, put R150 them all aside: anger, R151 wrath, malice, slander, and abusive R152 speech from your mouth. 9 Do R153 F75 not lie to one another, since you laid R154 aside the old self F76 with its evil practices, 10 and have put R155 on the new self who is being renewed R156 F77 to a true knowledge according R157 to the image of the One who created R158 him-- 11 a renewal in which there R159 is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised R160 and uncircumcised, barbarian, R161 F78 Scythian, slave R162 and freeman, but Christ R163 is all, and in all.

12 So, as those who have been chosen R164 of God, holy and beloved, put R165 on a heart R166 of compassion, kindness, humility, R167 gentleness and patience; R168 F79 13 bearing R169 with one another, and forgiving R170 each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just R170 as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the R171 F80 perfect bond of unity. R172 15 Let the R173 peace of Christ rule F81 in your hearts, to which indeed F82 you were called in one R174 body; and be F83 thankful. 16 Let the R175 word of Christ F84 richly dwell within you, with F85 all wisdom teaching R176 and admonishing one F86 another with R177 psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing R178 with F87 thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever R179 you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving R180 thanks through Him to God the Father.

Family Relations

18 Wives, R181 be R182 subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, R183 love your wives and do not be embittered against them. 20 Children, R184 be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to F88 the Lord. 21 Fathers, R185 do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.

22 Slaves, R186 in all things obey those who are your masters on F89 earth, not R187 with external F90 service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, F91 as R188 for the Lord rather F92 than for men, 24 knowing R189 that from the Lord you will receive the reward of F93 the R190 inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. R191 25 For he R192 who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that R193 F94 without partiality.
