Deuteronomy 21:18-23 [ Verse 20 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
18 If a man have a stubborn (8802) and rebellious (8802) son, which will not obey (8802) the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened (8765) him, will not hearken (8799) unto them: 19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold (8804) on him, and bring him out (8689) unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 20 And they shall say (8804) unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn (8802) and rebellious (8802), he will not obey (8802) our voice; he is a glutton (8802), and a drunkard (8802). 21 And all the men of his city shall stone (8804) him with stones, that he die (8804): so shalt thou put evil away (8765) from among you; and all Israel shall hear (8799), and fear (8799). 22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death (8717), and thou hang (8804) him on a tree: 23 His body shall not remain all night (8799) upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise (8800) bury (8799) him that day; (for he that is hanged (8803) is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled (8762), which the LORD thy God giveth (8802) thee for an inheritance.
