Be Imitators of God

1 Therefore R270 be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk R271 in love, just as Christ also loved R272 you F80 and gave R273 Himself up for us, an offering R274 and a sacrifice to God as F81 a fragrant R275 aroma.

3 But immorality R276 or F82 any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; F83 4 and there must be no filthiness R277 and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are R278 not fitting, but rather giving R279 of thanks. 5 For this you know with certainty, that no R280 immoral F84 or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of R281 Christ and God.

6 Let R282 no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the R283 wrath of God comes upon the R284 sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers R285 with them; 8 for you R286 were formerly darkness, R287 but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children R288 of Light 9 (for the R289 fruit of the Light consists in all goodness R290 and righteousness and truth), 10 trying R291 F85 to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do R292 not participate in the unfruitful deeds R293 of darkness, R294 but instead even expose R295 F86 them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible when R296 they are exposed F87 by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason it F88 says, "Awake, R297 sleeper, And arise from the R298 dead, And Christ will R299 shine on you."

15 Therefore be F89 careful how you walk, R300 not as R301 unwise men but as wise, 16 making R302 F90 the most of your time, because the R303 days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand R304 what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do R305 not get drunk with wine, for F91 that is dissipation, R306 but be filled R307 with the Spirit, 19 speaking R308 to one F92 another in psalms R309 and hymns R310 and spiritual songs, R311 singing R312 and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always R313 giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, R314 F93 even the Father; 21 and R315 F94 be subject to one another in the fear R316 F95 of Christ.

Marriage Like Christ and the Church

22 Wives, R317 be R318 subject to your own husbands, as R319 to the Lord. 23 For the R320 husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head R321 of the church, He Himself being R322 the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, R323 love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave R324 Himself up for her, 26 so R325 that He might sanctify her, having cleansed R326 her by the washing R327 of water with the R328 word, 27 that He might present R329 to Himself the church in F96 all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy R330 and blameless. 28 So husbands ought also to love R331 their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, 30 because we are members R332 of His body. R333 31 FOR R334 THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. 32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love R335 his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects R336 F97 her husband.
