Hebrews 4:1-10 [ Verse 6 in Original: Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Let us therefore fear (5680), lest, a promise being left (5746) us of entering (5629) into his rest, any of you should seem (5725) to come short of it (5760). 2 For unto us was (5748) the gospel preached (5772), as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit (5656) them, not being mixed (5772) with faith in them that heard (5660) it. 3 For we which have believed (5660) do enter (5736) into rest, as he said (5758), As I have sworn (5656) in my wrath, if they shall enter (5695) into my rest: although the works were finished (5679) from the foundation of the world. 4 For he spake (5758) in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest (5656) the seventh * * day from all his works. 5 And in this place again, If they shall enter (5695) into my rest. 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth (5743) that some must enter (5629) therein *, and they to whom it was first preached (5685) entered not in (5627) because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth (5719) a certain day, saying (5723) in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said (5769), To day if ye will hear (5661) his voice, harden (5725) not your hearts. 8 For if Jesus had given them rest (5656), then would he not afterward have spoken (5707) of another day. 9 There remaineth (5743) therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered (5631) into his rest, he also hath ceased (5656) from his own works, as God did from his.
