Hosea 10:1-8 [ Verse 8 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Israel is an empty (8802) vine, he bringeth forth (8762) fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased (8689) the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly (8689) images. 2 Their heart is divided (8804); now shall they be found faulty (8799): he shall break down (8799) their altars, he shall spoil (8779) their images. 3 For now they shall say (8799), We have no king, because we feared (8804) not the LORD; what then should a king do (8799) to us? 4 They have spoken (8765) words, swearing (8800) falsely in making (8800) a covenant: thus judgment springeth up (8804) as hemlock in the furrows of the field. 5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear (8799) because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn (8804) over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced (8799) on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed (8804) from it. 6 It shall be also carried (8714) unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive (8799) shame, and Israel shall be ashamed (8799) of his own counsel. 7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off (8738) as the foam upon the water. 8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed (8738): the thorn and the thistle shall come up (8799) on their altars; and they shall say (8804) to the mountains, Cover (8761) us; and to the hills, Fall (8798) on us.
