Isaiah 24:16-23 [ Verse 23 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
16 From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard (8804) songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said (8799), My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers (8802) have dealt treacherously (8804); yea, the treacherous dealers (8802) have dealt very treacherously (8804). 17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant (8802) of the earth. 18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth (8801) from the noise of the fear shall fall (8799) into the pit; and he that cometh up (8802) out of the midst of the pit shall be taken (8735) in the snare: for the windows from on high are open (8738), and the foundations of the earth do shake (8799). 19 The earth is utterly (8800) broken down (8712), the earth is clean (8800) dissolved (8707), the earth is moved (8694) exceedingly (8800). 20 The earth shall reel (8799) to and fro (8800) like a drunkard, and shall be removed (8712) like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy (8804) upon it; and it shall fall (8804), and not rise (8800) again (8686). 21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish (8799) the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall be gathered together (8795), as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up (8795) in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited (8735). 23 Then the moon shall be confounded (8804), and the sun ashamed (8804), when the LORD of hosts shall reign (8804) in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
