Isaiah 28:1-8 [ Verse 5 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Woe to the proud crown of the drunkards R973 of Ephraim, R974 And to the fading flower of its glorious beauty, Which is at the head of the fertile F362 valley Of those who are overcome F363 with wine! 2 Behold, the Lord has a strong and mighty R975 agent; As a storm of hail, R976 a tempest of destruction, Like a storm of mighty R977 overflowing waters, He has cast it down to the earth with His hand. 3 The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim is trodden R978 under foot. 4 And the fading flower of its glorious beauty, Which is at the head of the fertile F364 valley, Will be like the first-ripe R979 fig prior to summer, Which one F365 sees, And as F366 soon as it is in his hand, F367 He swallows it. 5 In that day the LORD of hosts will become a beautiful crown R981 And a glorious diadem to the remnant of His people; 6 A spirit R982 of justice for him who sits in judgment, A strength R983 to those who repel the onslaught F368 at the gate. 7 And these also reel R984 with wine and stagger from strong drink: The R985 priest and the R986 prophet reel with strong drink, They are confused by wine, they stagger from strong R987 drink; They reel while having F369 visions, R988 They totter when rendering judgment. 8 For all the tables are full of filthy vomit, R989 without a single clean place.
