Help Not in Egypt but in God

1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt R1144 for help

And rely R1145 on horses,

And trust in chariots because they are many

And in horsemen because they are very strong,

But they do not look R1146 to the Holy R1147 One of Israel, nor seek the LORD!

2 Yet He also is wise R1148 and will bring R1149 disaster

And does not R1150 retract His words,

But will arise against the house of evildoers R1151

And against the help of the workers R1152 of iniquity.

3 Now the Egyptians are men R1153 and not God,

And their horses R1154 are flesh and not spirit;

So the LORD will stretch R1155 out His hand,

And he R1156 who helps will stumble

And he who is helped will fall,

And all of them will come to an end together.

4 For thus says the LORD to me, "As the lion R1157 or the young lion growls over his prey, Against which a band of shepherds is called out, And he will not be terrified at their voice nor disturbed at their noise, So will the LORD of hosts come down to wage war R1158 on Mount Zion and on its hill."

5 Like flying F465 birds R1159 so the LORD of hosts will protect Jerusalem.

He will protect R1160 and deliver it;

He will pass over and rescue it.

6 Return R1161 to Him from whom you F466 have deeply R1162 defected, O sons of Israel. 7 For in that day every man will cast R1163 away his silver idols and his gold idols, which your sinful R1164 hands have made for you as a R1164 sin.

8 And the Assyrian R1165 will fall by a sword not of man,

And a sword R1166 not of man will devour him.

So he will not R1167 F467 escape the sword,

And his young men will become forced R1168 laborers.

9 "His rock R1169 will pass away because of panic,

And his princes will be terrified at the standard," R1170

Declares the LORD, whose fire R1171 is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.
