Isaiah 33:1-12 [ Verse 2 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Woe to thee that spoilest (8802), and thou wast not spoiled (8803); and dealest treacherously (8802), and they dealt not treacherously (8804) with thee! when thou shalt cease (8687) to spoil (8802), thou shalt be spoiled (8714); and when thou shalt make an end (8687) to deal treacherously (8800), they shall deal treacherously (8799) with thee. 2 O LORD, be gracious (8798) unto us; we have waited (8765) for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. 3 At the noise of the tumult the people fled (8804); at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered (8804). 4 And your spoil shall be gathered (8795) like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run (8802) upon them. 5 The LORD is exalted (8737); for he dwelleth (8802) on high: he hath filled (8765) Zion with judgment and righteousness. 6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure. 7 Behold, their valiant ones shall cry (8804) without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep (8799) bitterly. 8 The highways lie waste (8738), the wayfaring man * (8802) ceaseth (8804): he hath broken (8689) the covenant, he hath despised (8804) the cities, he regardeth (8804) no man. 9 The earth mourneth (8804) and languisheth (8797): Lebanon is ashamed (8689) and hewn down (8804): Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off (8802) their fruits. 10 Now will I rise (8799), saith (8799) the LORD; now will I be exalted (8735); now will I lift up (8735) myself. 11 Ye shall conceive (8799) chaff, ye shall bring forth (8799) stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour (8799) you. 12 And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up (8803) shall they be burned (8799) in the fire.
