Isaiah 38:9-22 [ Verse 13 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick (8800), and was recovered (8799) of his sickness: 10 I said (8804) in the cutting off of my days, I shall go (8799) to the gates of the grave: I am deprived (8795) of the residue of my years. 11 I said (8804), I shall not see (8799) the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold (8686) man no more with the inhabitants (8802) of the world. 12 Mine age is departed (8738), and is removed (8738) from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off (8765) like a weaver (8802) my life: he will cut me off (8762) with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end (8686) of me. 13 I reckoned (8765) till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break (8762) all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end (8686) of me. 14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter (8770): I did mourn (8799) as a dove: mine eyes fail (8804) with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake (8798) for me. 15 What shall I say (8762)? he hath both spoken (8804) unto me, and himself hath done (8804) it: I shall go softly (8691) all my years in the bitterness of my soul. 16 O Lord, by these things men live (8799), and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover (8686) me, and make me to live (8685). 17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness * (8804): but thou hast in love (8804) to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast (8689) all my sins behind thy back. 18 For the grave cannot praise (8686) thee, death can not celebrate (8762) thee: they that go down (8802) into the pit cannot hope (8762) for thy truth. 19 The living, the living, he shall praise (8686) thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known (8686) thy truth. 20 The LORD was ready to save (8687) me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments (8762) all the days of our life in the house of the LORD. 21 For Isaiah had said (8799), Let them take (8799) a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister (8799) upon the boil, and he shall recover (8799). 22 Hezekiah also had said (8799), What is the sign that I shall go up (8799) to the house of the LORD?
