A Glorified Zion
1 "Arise, R2477 shine; for your light R2478 has come,
And the glory R2479 of the LORD has risen upon you.
2 "For behold, darkness R2480 will cover the earth
And deep darkness the peoples;
But the LORD will rise upon you
And His glory R2481 will appear upon you.
3 "Nations R2482 will come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.
4 "Lift R2483 up your eyes round about and see;
They all gather together, they come R2484 to you.
Your sons will come from afar,
And your daughters R2485 will be carried F814 in the arms.
5 "Then you will see and be radiant, R2486
And your heart will thrill F815 and rejoice;
Because the abundance R2487 of the sea will be turned to you,
The wealth R2488 of the nations will come to you.
6 "A multitude of camels will cover you,
The young camels of Midian and Ephah; R2489
All those from Sheba R2490 will come;
They will bring gold R2491 and frankincense,
And will bear R2492 good news of the praises of the LORD.
7 "All the flocks of Kedar R2493 will be gathered together to you,
The rams of Nebaioth will minister to you;
They will go up with acceptance on My altar, R2494
And I shall glorify R2495 F816 My glorious F817 house.
8 "Who R2496 are these who fly like a cloud
And like the doves to their lattices? F818
9 "Surely the coastlands R2497 will wait for Me;
And the ships R2498 of Tarshish will come first,
To bring R2499 your sons from afar,
Their silver and their gold with them,
For the name of the LORD your God,
And for the Holy One of Israel because He has glorified R2500 F819 you.
10 "Foreigners R2501 will build up your walls,
And their kings R2502 will minister to you;
For in My wrath R2503 I struck you,
And in My favor I have had compassion on you.
11 "Your gates R2504 will be open continually;
They will not be closed day or night,
So that men may bring R2505 to you the wealth of the nations,
With their R2506 kings led in procession.
12 "For the nation R2507 and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish,
And the nations will be utterly ruined.
13 "The glory R2508 of Lebanon will come to you,
The juniper, R2509 the box tree and the cypress together,
To beautify the place of My sanctuary;
And I shall make the place R2510 of My feet glorious.
14 "The sons R2511 of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you,
And all those who despised you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet;
And they will call you the city R2512 of the LORD,
The Zion R2513 of the Holy One of Israel.
15 "Whereas you have been forsaken R2514 and hated R2515
With no one passing through,
I will make you an everlasting pride, R2516
A joy from generation to generation.
16 "You will also suck R2517 the milk of nations
And suck the breast of kings;
Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior R2518
And your Redeemer, R2519 the Mighty One of Jacob.
17 "Instead of bronze I will bring gold,
And instead of iron I will bring silver,
And instead of wood, bronze,
And instead of stones, iron.
And I will make peace your administrators
And righteousness your overseers.
18 "Violence R2520 will not be heard again in your land,
Nor devastation R2521 or destruction within your borders;
But you will call your walls R2522 salvation, and your gates R2523 praise.
19 "No longer will you have the sun R2524 for light by day,
Nor for brightness will the moon give you light;
But you will have the LORD R2525 for an everlasting light,
And your God R2526 for your glory. F820
20 "Your sun R2527 will no longer set,
Nor will your moon wane;
For you will have the LORD for an everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning R2528 will be over.
21 "Then all your people R2529 will be righteous;
They will possess R2530 the land forever,
The branch of My F821 planting,
The work R2531 of My hands,
That I may be glorified. R2532
22 "The smallest R2533 one will become a clan, F822
And the least one a mighty nation.
I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time."
