Misuse of Riches

1 Come R170 now, you R171 rich, weep R172 and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. 2 Your R173 riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in R174 the last days that you have stored up your treasure! 4 Behold, the R175 pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the R176 outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the R177 Lord of Sabaoth. F75 5 You have lived R178 luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened F76 your hearts in a R179 day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and put R180 F77 to death the R181 righteous man; he does not resist you.

7 Therefore be patient, brethren, R182 until R183 the coming of the Lord. The R184 farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it F78 gets the R185 early and late rains. 8 You R186 too be patient; strengthen R187 your hearts, for the R188 coming of the Lord is near. R189 9 Do R190 not complain, F79 brethren, R191 against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the R192 Judge is standing right R193 F80 at the door. F81 10 As an example, brethren, R194 of suffering and patience, take the R195 prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 We count those blessed R196 who endured. You have heard of the R197 endurance F82 of Job and have seen the R198 outcome F83 of the Lord's dealings, that the R199 Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.

12 But above all, my R200 brethren, do R201 not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your F84 yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.

13 Is anyone among you suffering? R202 Then R203 he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing R204 praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the R205 elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing R206 F85 him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer R207 offered F86 in faith will restore R208 F87 the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise R209 him up, and if he has committed sins, they F88 will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess R210 your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. R211 The R212 effective prayer F89 of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was a R213 man with a nature like ours, and he R214 prayed earnestly F90 that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three R215 years and six months. 18 Then he prayed R216 again, and the R217 sky F91 poured F92 rain and the earth produced its fruit.

19 My brethren, if R218 any among you strays from the R219 truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that he F93 who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save R220 his soul from death and will cover R221 a multitude of sins.
