1 Righteous R616 are You, O LORD, that I would plead my case with You;
Indeed I would discuss R617 matters of justice with You:
Why has the way R618 of the wicked prospered?
Why are all those who deal R619 in treachery at ease?
2 You have planted R620 them, they have also taken root;
They grow, they have even produced fruit.
You are near R621 to F131 their lips
But far from their mind. F132
3 But You know R622 me, O LORD;
You see me;
And You examine R623 my heart's attitude toward You.
Drag them off like sheep for the slaughter
And set F133 them apart for a day R624 of carnage!
4 How long is the land R625 to mourn
And the vegetation R626 of the countryside to wither?
For the wickedness R627 of those who dwell in it,
Animals R628 and birds have been snatched away,
Because men have said, "He will not see our latter ending." R629
5 "If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out,
Then how can you compete with horses?
If you fall down in a land of peace,
How will you do in the thicket R630 F134 of the Jordan?
6 "For even your brothers R631 and the household of your father,
Even they have dealt treacherously with you,
Even they have cried aloud after you.
Do not believe them, although they may say nice R632 things to you."
7 "I have forsaken R633 My house,
I have abandoned My inheritance;
I have given the beloved R634 of My soul
Into the hand of her enemies.
8 "My inheritance has become to Me
Like a lion in the forest;
She has roared R635 F135 against Me;
Therefore I have come to hate R636 her.
9 "Is My inheritance like a speckled bird of prey to Me?
Are the birds R637 of prey against her on every side?
Go, gather all the beasts R638 of the field,
Bring them to devour!
10 "Many shepherds R639 have ruined My vineyard, R640
They have trampled R641 down My field;
They have made My pleasant R642 field
A desolate wilderness.
11 "It F136 has been made a desolation,
Desolate, it mourns R643 before F137 Me;
The whole R644 land has been made desolate,
Because no man lays R645 it to heart.
12 "On all the bare R646 F138 heights in the wilderness
Destroyers have come,
For a sword R647 of the LORD is devouring
From one end of the land even to the other; F139
There is no R648 peace for anyone. F140
13 "They have sown R649 wheat and have reaped thorns,
They have strained R650 themselves to F141 no profit.
But be ashamed of your harvest R651 F142
Because of the fierce R652 anger of the LORD."
14 Thus says the LORD concerning all My wicked R653 neighbors who strike R654 at the inheritance with which I have endowed My people Israel, "Behold I am about to uproot them from their land and will uproot R655 the house of Judah from among them. 15 "And it will come about that after I have uprooted them, I will again R656 have compassion on them; and I will bring R657 them back, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land. 16 "Then if they will really learn R658 the ways of My people, to swear R659 by My name, `As the LORD lives,' even as they taught My people to swear R660 by Baal, they will be built R661 up in the midst of My people. 17 "But if they will not listen, then I will uproot R662 that nation, uproot and destroy it," declares the LORD.
