Jeremiah 18:11-17 [ Verse 15 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
11 Now therefore go to, speak (8798) to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants (8802) of Jerusalem, saying (8800), Thus saith (8804) the LORD; Behold, I frame (8802) evil against you, and devise (8802) a device against you: return (8798) ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good (8685). 12 And they said (8804), There is no hope (8737): but we will walk (8799) after our own devices, and we will every one do (8799) the imagination of his evil heart. 13 Therefore thus saith (8804) the LORD; Ask (8798) ye now among the heathen, who hath heard (8804) such things: the virgin of Israel hath done (8804) a very horrible thing. 14 Will a man leave (8799) the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing (8802) waters that come from another place (8801) be forsaken (8735)? 15 Because my people hath forgotten (8804) me, they have burned incense (8762) to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble (8686) in their ways from the ancient paths * (8675), to walk (8800) in paths, in a way not cast up (8803); 16 To make (8800) their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing * (8675); every one that passeth (8802) thereby shall be astonished (8799), and wag (8686) his head. 17 I will scatter (8686) them as with an east wind before the enemy (8802); I will shew (8799) them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
