Jeremiah 20:7-13 [ Verse 9 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
7 O LORD, You have deceived me and I was deceived; You have overcome R1022 me and prevailed. I have become a laughingstock R1023 all day long; Everyone mocks R1024 me. 8 For each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim R1025 violence and destruction, Because for me the word R1026 of the LORD has resulted F202 In reproach and derision all day long. 9 But if I say, "I will not remember R1027 Him Or speak anymore in His name," Then in my R1028 heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am weary of holding it in, And I R1029 cannot endure it. 10 For I R1030 have heard the whispering of many, "Terror R1031 on every side! Denounce R1032 him; yes, let us denounce him!" All F203 my trusted R1033 friends, Watching for my fall, say: "Perhaps he will be deceived, F204 so that we may prevail R1034 against him And take our revenge on him." 11 But the LORD is with me like a dread champion; Therefore my persecutors R1036 will stumble and not prevail. They will be utterly ashamed, because they have failed, F205 With an everlasting R1037 disgrace that will not be forgotten. 12 Yet, O LORD of hosts, You who test R1038 the righteous, Who see the mind F206 and the heart; Let me see R1039 Your vengeance on them; For to R1040 You I have set forth my cause. 13 Sing R1041 to the LORD, praise the LORD! For He has delivered R1042 the soul of the needy one From the hand of evildoers.
