Jeremiah 23:33-40 [ Verse 39 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask (8799) thee, saying (8800), What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say (8804) unto them, What burden? I will even forsake (8804) you, saith (8803) the LORD. 34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say (8799), The burden of the LORD, I will even punish (8804) that man and his house. 35 Thus shall ye say (8799) every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered (8804)? and, What hath the LORD spoken (8765)? 36 And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention (8799) no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted (8804) the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. 37 Thus shalt thou say (8799) to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered (8804) thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken (8765)? 38 But since ye say (8799), The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith (8804) the LORD; Because ye say (8800) this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent (8799) unto you, saying (8800), Ye shall not say (8799), The burden of the LORD; 39 Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly (8800) forget (8804) you, and I will forsake (8804) you, and the city that I gave (8804) you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: 40 And I will bring (8804) an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten (8735).
