Jeremiah 2:29-37 [ Verse 32 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
29 Wherefore will ye plead (8799) with me? ye all have transgressed (8804) against me, saith (8803) the LORD. 30 In vain have I smitten (8689) your children; they received (8804) no correction: your own sword hath devoured (8804) your prophets, like a destroying (8688) lion. 31 O generation, see (8798) ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say (8804) my people, We are lords (8804); we will come (8799) no more unto thee? 32 Can a maid forget (8799) her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten (8804) me days without number. 33 Why trimmest (8686) thou thy way to seek (8763) love? therefore hast thou also taught (8765) the wicked ones thy ways. 34 Also in thy skirts is found (8738) the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found (8804) it by secret search, but upon all these. 35 Yet thou sayest (8799), Because I am innocent (8738), surely his anger shall turn (8804) from me. Behold, I will plead (8737) with thee, because thou sayest (8800), I have not sinned (8804). 36 Why gaddest thou about (8799) so much to change (8763) thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed (8799) of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed (8804) of Assyria. 37 Yea, thou shalt go forth (8799) from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected (8804) thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper (8686) in them.
