- 5 Declare (8685) ye in Judah, and publish (8685) in Jerusalem; and say (8798), Blow (8798) ye the trumpet in the land: cry (8798), gather together (8761), and say (8798), Assemble (8734) yourselves, and let us go (8799) into the defenced cities. 6 Set up (8798) the standard toward Zion: retire (8685), stay (8799) not: for I will bring (8688) evil from the north, and a great destruction. 7 The lion is come up (8804) from his thicket, and the destroyer (8688) of the Gentiles is on his way (8804); he is gone forth (8804) from his place to make (8800) thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste (8799), without an inhabitant (8802). 8 For this gird (8798) you with sackcloth, lament (8798) and howl (8685): for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back (8804) from us. 9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith (8803) the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish (8799), and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished (8738), and the prophets shall wonder (8799). 10 Then said (8799) I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly (8687) deceived (8689) this people and Jerusalem, saying (8800), Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth (8804) unto the soul. 11 At that time shall it be said (8735) to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan (8800), nor to cleanse (8687), 12 Even a full wind from those places shall come (8799) unto me: now also will I give (8762) sentence against them. 13 Behold, he shall come up (8799) as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter (8804) than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled (8795). 14 O Jerusalem, wash (8761) thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved (8735). How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge (8686) within thee? 15 For a voice declareth (8688) from Dan, and publisheth (8688) affliction from mount Ephraim. 16 Make ye mention (8685) to the nations; behold, publish (8685) against Jerusalem, that watchers (8802) come (8802) from a far country, and give out (8799) their voice against the cities of Judah. 17 As keepers (8802) of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious (8804) against me, saith (8803) the LORD. 18 Thy way and thy doings have procured (8804) these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth (8804) unto thine heart.
