Jeremiah 5:25-31 [ Verse 26 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
25 `Your iniquities R261 have turned these away, And your sins have withheld good from you. 26 `For wicked men are found among My people, They watch R262 like fowlers lying F61 in wait; They set a trap, They catch men. 27 `Like a cage full of birds, So their houses are full of deceit; R263 Therefore they have become great and rich. 28 `They are fat, R264 they are sleek, They also excel F62 in deeds of wickedness; They do not plead the cause, The cause of the orphan, R265 F63 that they may prosper; And they do not defend F64 the rights of the poor. 29 `Shall R266 I not punish these F65 people?' declares the LORD, `On a nation such as this Shall I not avenge Myself?' 30 "An appalling and horrible R267 thing Has happened in the land: 31 The prophets R268 prophesy falsely, And the priests rule on F66 their own authority; And My people love R269 it so! But what will you do at the end of it?
