Jeremiah 6:1-8 [ Verse 1 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee (8685) out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow (8798) the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up (8798) a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth (8738) out of the north, and great destruction. 2 I have likened (8804) the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate (8794) woman. 3 The shepherds (8802) with their flocks shall come (8799) unto her; they shall pitch (8804) their tents against her round about; they shall feed (8804) every one in his place. 4 Prepare (8761) ye war against her; arise (8798), and let us go up (8799) at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away (8804), for the shadows of the evening are stretched out (8735). 5 Arise (8798), and let us go (8799) by night, and let us destroy (8686) her palaces. 6 For thus hath the LORD of hosts said (8804), Hew ye down (8798) trees, and cast (8798) a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited (8717); she is wholly oppression in the midst of her. 7 As a fountain casteth out (8687) her waters, so she casteth out (8689) her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard (8735) in her; before me continually is grief and wounds. 8 Be thou instructed (8734), O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart (8799) from thee; lest I make (8799) thee desolate, a land not inhabited (8738).
