Jeremiah 6:9-17 [ Verse 17 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
9 Thus saith (8804) the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly (8780) glean (8779) the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back (8685) thine hand as a grapegatherer (8802) into the baskets. 10 To whom shall I speak (8762), and give warning (8686), that they may hear (8799)? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot (8799) hearken (8687): behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight (8799) in it. 11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary (8738) with holding in (8687): I will pour it out (8800) upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken (8735), the aged with him that is full (8804) of days. 12 And their houses shall be turned (8738) unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out (8686) my hand upon the inhabitants (8802) of the land, saith (8803) the LORD. 13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given (8802) to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth (8802) falsely. 14 They have healed (8762) also the hurt of the daughter (8676) of my people slightly (8738), saying (8800), Peace, peace; when there is no peace. 15 Were they ashamed (8689) when they had committed (8804) abomination? nay, they were not at all (8800) ashamed (8799), neither could (8804) they blush (8687): therefore they shall fall (8799) among them that fall (8802): at the time that I visit (8804) them they shall be cast down (8735), saith (8804) the LORD. 16 Thus saith (8804) the LORD, Stand (8798) ye in the ways, and see (8799), and ask (8798) for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk (8799) therein, and ye shall find (8798) rest for your souls. But they said (8799), We will not walk (8798) therein. 17 Also I set (8689) watchmen (8802) over you, saying, Hearken (8685) to the sound of the trumpet. But they said (8799), We will not hearken (8686).
