[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 "Flee for safety, O sons of Benjamin, R270 From the midst of Jerusalem! Now blow a trumpet in Tekoa And raise a signal over Beth-haccerem; R271 F67 For evil looks down from the north, R272 And a great destruction. 2 "The comely and dainty R273 one, the R274 daughter of Zion, I will cut off. 3 "Shepherds R275 and their flocks will come to her, They will pitch R276 their tents around F68 her, They will pasture each in his place. F69 4 "Prepare R277 F70 war against her; Arise, and let us attack F71 at noon. R278 Woe to us, for the day declines, For the shadows of the evening lengthen! 5 "Arise, and let us attack F72 by night And destroy R279 her palaces!" F73 6 For thus says the LORD of hosts, "Cut R280 down her trees And cast up a siege R281 against Jerusalem. This is the city to be punished, In whose midst there is only oppression. R282 7 "As R283 a well keeps F74 its waters fresh, So she keeps F74 fresh her wickedness. Violence R284 and destruction are heard in her; Sickness R285 and wounds are ever before Me. 8 "Be R286 warned, O Jerusalem, Or I R287 F75 shall be alienated from you, And make you a desolation, A land not inhabited."
