Jonah 2:1-9 [ Verse 8 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Then Jonah prayed (8691) unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, 2 And said (8799), I cried (8804) by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard (8799) me; out of the belly of hell cried (8765) I, and thou heardest (8804) my voice. 3 For thou hadst cast (8686) me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed (8779) me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over (8804) me. 4 Then I said (8804), I am cast out (8738) of thy sight; yet I will look (8687) again (8686) toward thy holy temple. 5 The waters compassed me about (8804), even to the soul: the depth closed me round about (8779), the weeds were wrapped about (8803) my head. 6 I went down (8804) to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up (8686) my life from corruption, O LORD my God. 7 When my soul fainted (8692) within me I remembered (8804) the LORD: and my prayer came in (8799) unto thee, into thine holy temple. 8 They that observe (8764) lying vanities forsake (8799) their own mercy. 9 But I will sacrifice (8799) unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay (8762) that that I have vowed (8804). Salvation is of the LORD.
