Joshua 10:1-6 [ Verse 2 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard (8800) how Joshua had taken (8804) Ai, and had utterly destroyed (8686) it; as he had done (8804) to Jericho and her king, so he had done (8804) to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants (8802) of Gibeon had made peace (8689) with Israel, and were among them; 2 That they feared (8799) greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty. 3 Wherefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent (8799) unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying (8800), 4 Come up (8798) unto me, and help (8798) me, that we may smite (8686) Gibeon: for it hath made peace (8689) with Joshua and with the children of Israel. 5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together (8735), and went up (8799), they and all their hosts, and encamped (8799) before Gibeon, and made war (8735) against it. 6 And the men of Gibeon sent (8799) unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying (8800), Slack (8686) not thy hand from thy servants; come up (8798) to us quickly, and save (8685) us, and help (8798) us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell (8802) in the mountains are gathered together (8738) against us.
