Joshua 24:1-14 [ Verse 2 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 And Joshua gathered (8799) all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called (8799) for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges (8802), and for their officers (8802); and they presented (8691) themselves before God. 2 And Joshua said (8799) unto all the people, Thus saith (8804) the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt (8804) on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served (8799) other gods. 3 And I took (8799) your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led (8686) him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied (8686) his seed, and gave (8799) him Isaac. 4 And I gave (8799) unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave (8799) unto Esau mount Seir, to possess (8800) it; but Jacob and his children went down (8804) into Egypt. 5 I sent (8799) Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued (8799) Egypt, according to that which I did (8804) among them: and afterward I brought you out (8689). 6 And I brought (8686) your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came (8799) unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued (8799) after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea. 7 And when they cried (8799) unto the LORD, he put (8799) darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought (8686) the sea upon them, and covered (8762) them; and your eyes have seen (8799) what I have done (8804) in Egypt: and ye dwelt (8799) in the wilderness a long season. 8 And I brought (8686) you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt (8802) on the other side Jordan; and they fought (8735) with you: and I gave (8799) them into your hand, that ye might possess (8799) their land; and I destroyed (8686) them from before you. 9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose (8799) and warred (8735) against Israel, and sent (8799) and called (8799) Balaam the son of Beor to curse (8763) you: 10 But I would (8804) not hearken (8800) unto Balaam; therefore he blessed (8762) you still (8800): so I delivered (8686) you out of his hand. 11 And ye went over (8799) Jordan, and came (8799) unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought (8735) against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered (8799) them into your hand. 12 And I sent (8799) the hornet before you, which drave them out (8762) from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow. 13 And I have given (8799) you a land for which ye did not labour (8804), and cities which ye built (8804) not, and ye dwell (8799) in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted (8804) not do ye eat (8802). 14 Now therefore fear (8798) the LORD, and serve (8798) him in sincerity and in truth: and put away (8685) the gods which your fathers served (8804) on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve (8798) ye the LORD.
