Joshua 4:1-9 [ Verse 9 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean (8804) passed over (8800) Jordan, that the LORD spake (8799) unto Joshua, saying (8800), 2 Take (8798) you twelve * * men out of the people, out of every tribe a man, 3 And command (8761) ye them, saying (8800), Take (8798) you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm (8687), twelve * * stones, and ye shall carry them over (8689) with you, and leave (8689) them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge (8799) this night. 4 Then Joshua called (8799) the twelve * * men, whom he had prepared (8689) of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man: 5 And Joshua said (8799) unto them, Pass over (8798) before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up (8685) every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel: 6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask (8799) their fathers in time to come, saying (8800), What mean ye by these stones? 7 Then ye shall answer (8804) them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off (8738) before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over (8800) Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off (8738): and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever. 8 And the children of Israel did (8799) so as Joshua commanded (8765), and took up (8799) twelve * * stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake (8765) unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over (8686) with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down (8686) there. 9 And Joshua set up (8689) twelve * * stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare (8802) the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
