Book of Judges | Chapter 16 | - Judges 16:4-17 [ Verse 9 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ] - 4 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved (8799) a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. 5 And the lords of the Philistines came up (8799) unto her, and said (8799) unto her, Entice (8761) him, and see (8798) wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail (8799) against him, that we may bind (8804) him to afflict (8763) him: and we will give (8799) thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver. 6 And Delilah said (8799) to Samson, Tell (8685) me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound (8735) to afflict (8763) thee. 7 And Samson said (8799) unto her, If they bind (8799) me with seven green withs that were never dried (8795), then shall I be weak (8804), and be as another man. 8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up (8686) to her seven green withs which had not been dried (8795), and she bound (8799) him with them. 9 Now there were men lying in wait (8802), abiding (8802) with her in the chamber. And she said (8799) unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake (8762) the withs, as a thread of tow is broken (8735) when it toucheth (8687) the fire. So his strength was not known (8738). 10 And Delilah said (8799) unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked (8765) me, and told (8762) me lies: now tell (8685) me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound (8735). 11 And he said (8799) unto her, If they bind (8799) me fast (8800) with new ropes that never were occupied * (8738), then shall I be weak (8804), and be as another man. 12 Delilah therefore took (8799) new ropes, and bound (8799) him therewith, and said (8799) unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait (8802) abiding (8802) in the chamber. And he brake (8762) them from off his arms like a thread. 13 And Delilah said (8799) unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked (8765) me, and told (8762) me lies: tell (8685) me wherewith thou mightest be bound (8735). And he said (8799) unto her, If thou weavest (8799) the seven locks of my head with the web. 14 And she fastened (8799) it with the pin, and said (8799) unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked (8799) out of his sleep, and went away (8799) with the pin of the beam, and with the web. 15 And she said (8799) unto him, How canst thou say (8799), I love (8804) thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked (8765) me these three times, and hast not told (8689) me wherein thy great strength lieth. 16 And it came to pass, when she pressed (8689) him daily with her words, and urged (8762) him, so that his soul was vexed (8799) unto death (8800); 17 That he told (8686) her all his heart, and said (8799) unto her, There hath not come (8804) a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven (8795), then my strength will go (8804) from me, and I shall become weak (8804), and be like any other man.
