[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 The oracle R1 F1 of the word of the LORD to Israel R2 through Malachi. F2 2 "I have loved R3 you," says the LORD. But you say, "How have You loved us?" "Was not Esau Jacob's brother?" declares the LORD. "Yet I have R4 loved Jacob; 3 but I have hated Esau, and I have made R5 his mountains a desolation and appointed his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness." 4 Though Edom says, "We have been beaten R6 down, but we will return R7 F3 and build up the ruins"; thus says the LORD of hosts, "They may build, R8 but I will tear down; and men will call them the wicked F4 territory, and the people toward F5 whom the LORD is indignant forever." R9 5 Your eyes will see this and you will say, "The R10 LORD be F6 magnified beyond the border F7 of Israel!"
