Mark 10:1-12 [ Verse 4 in Original: Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 And he arose (5631) from thence, and cometh (5736) into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort (5736) unto him again; and, as he was wont (5715), he taught (5707) them again. 2 And the Pharisees came to him (5631), and asked (5656) him, Is it lawful (5748) for a man to put away (5658) his wife? tempting (5723) him. 3 And he answered (5679) and said (5627) unto them, What did Moses command (5662) you? 4 And they said (5627), Moses suffered (5656) to write (5658) a bill of divorcement, and to put her away (5658). 5 And Jesus answered (5679) and said (5627) unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote (5656) you this precept. 6 But from the beginning of the creation God made (5656) them male and female. 7 For this cause * * shall a man leave (5692) his father and mother, and cleave (5701) to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be (5704) one * * flesh: so then they are (5748) no more twain, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together (5656), let not man put asunder (5720). 10 And in the house his disciples asked (5656) him again of the same matter. 11 And he saith (5719) unto them, Whosoever shall put away (5661) his wife, and marry (5661) another, committeth adultery (5736) against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away (5661) her husband, and be married (5686) to another, she committeth adultery (5736).
