Mark 12:35-40 [ Verse 40 in Original: Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
35 And R434 Jesus began to say, as He taught R435 in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the F216 Christ is the son R436 of David? 36 "David himself said in F217 the Holy Spirit, `THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET."' 37 "David himself calls Him `Lord'; so in what sense is He his son?" And the R438 large crowd enjoyed F218 listening to Him. 38 In R439 His teaching He was saying: "Beware of the scribes who like to walk around in long robes, and like respectful R440 greetings in the market places, 39 and chief seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets, 40 who R441 devour widows' houses, and for appearance's sake offer long prayers; these will receive greater condemnation."
