Numbers 21:4-9 [ Verse 8 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
4 And they journeyed (8799) from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass (8800) the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged (8799) because of the way. 5 And the people spake (8762) against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up (8689) out of Egypt to die (8800) in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth (8804) this light bread. 6 And the LORD sent (8762) fiery serpents among the people, and they bit (8762) the people; and much people of Israel died (8799). 7 Therefore the people came (8799) to Moses, and said (8799), We have sinned (8804), for we have spoken (8765) against the LORD, and against thee; pray (8690) unto the LORD, that he take away (8686) the serpents from us. And Moses prayed (8691) for the people. 8 And the LORD said (8799) unto Moses, Make (8798) thee a fiery serpent, and set (8798) it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten (8803), when he looketh (8804) upon it, shall live (8804). 9 And Moses made (8799) a serpent of brass, and put (8799) it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten (8804) any man, when he beheld (8689) the serpent of brass, he lived (8804).
