Philippians 1:12-20 [ Verse 12 in Original: Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
12 Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have R29 turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, R30 13 so that my imprisonment R31 F9 in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian F10 guard and to everyone R32 else, 14 and that most of the brethren, F11 trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, R33 F12 have far R34 more courage to speak the word of God without fear. 15 Some, R35 to be sure, are preaching Christ even from F13 envy and strife, but some also from F13 good will; 16 the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; R36 17 the former proclaim Christ out R37 of selfish ambition rather F14 than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. R38 F15 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance F16 through R39 your prayers F17 and the provision of the R40 Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest R41 expectation and hope, R42 that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all R43 boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted R44 in my body, whether R45 by life or by death.
