Proverbs 7:6-23 [ Verse 18 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
6 For at the window of my house I looked (8738) through my casement, 7 And beheld (8799) among the simple ones, I discerned (8799) among the youths, a young man void of understanding, 8 Passing through (8802) the street near her corner; and he went (8799) the way to her house, 9 In the twilight, in the evening *, in the black and dark night: 10 And, behold, there met (8800) him a woman with the attire of an harlot (8802), and subtil (8803) of heart. 11 (She is loud (8802) and stubborn (8802); her feet abide (8799) not in her house: 12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait (8799) at every corner.) 13 So she caught (8689) him, and kissed (8804) him, and with an impudent (8689) face said (8799) unto him, 14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed (8765) my vows. 15 Therefore came I forth (8804) to meet (8800) thee, diligently to seek (8763) thy face, and I have found (8799) thee. 16 I have decked (8804) my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. 17 I have perfumed (8804) my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18 Come (8798), let us take our fill (8799) of love until the morning: let us solace (8691) ourselves with loves. 19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone (8804) a long journey: 20 He hath taken (8804) a bag of money with him, and will come (8799) home at the day appointed. 21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield (8689), with the flattering of her lips she forced (8686) him. 22 He goeth (8802) after her straightway, as an ox goeth (8799) to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; 23 Till a dart strike (8762) through his liver; as a bird hasteth (8763) to the snare, and knoweth (8804) not that it is for his life.
