God Sustains His Servant.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

1 I waited R1216 patiently F354 for the LORD;

And He inclined to me and heard R1217 my cry.

2 He brought me up out of the pit R1218 of destruction, out of the miry F355 clay,

And He R1219 set my feet upon a rock making R1220 my footsteps firm.

3 He put a new R1221 song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;

Many will see R1222 and fear

And will trust in the LORD.

4 How blessed R1223 is the man who has made the LORD his trust,

And has R1224 not turned F356 to the proud, nor to those who lapse R1225 into falsehood.

5 Many, O LORD my God, are the R1226 wonders which You have done,

And Your thoughts R1227 toward us;

There is none to compare with You.

If I would declare and speak of them,

They would R1228 be too numerous to count.

6 Sacrifice R1229 F357 and meal offering You have not desired;

My ears You have opened; F358

Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required.

7 Then I said, "Behold, I come;

In the scroll of the book it is written F359 of me.

8 I R1230 delight to do Your will, O my God;

Your R1231 Law is within my heart."

9 I have proclaimed R1232 glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation;

Behold, I will not R1233 restrain my lips,

O LORD, You R1234 know.

10 I have not R1235 hidden Your righteousness within my heart;

I have spoken R1236 of Your faithfulness and Your salvation;

I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.

11 You, O LORD, will not withhold Your compassion from me;

Your F360 lovingkindness R1237 and Your truth will continually preserve me.

12 For evils beyond number have surrounded R1238 me;

My iniquities R1239 have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see;

They are more R1240 numerous than the hairs of my head,

And my heart R1241 has failed F361 me.

13 Be R1242 pleased, O LORD, to deliver me;

Make haste, R1243 O LORD, to help me.

14 Let those be ashamed R1244 and humiliated together

Who seek R1245 my life F362 to destroy it;

Let those be turned back and dishonored

Who delight in F363 my hurt.

15 Let those be R1246 appalled F364 because of their shame

Who say R1247 to me, "Aha, aha!"

16 Let R1248 all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;

Let those who love Your salvation say R1249 continually,

"The LORD be magnified!"

17 Since I R1250 am afflicted and needy,

Let R1251 F365 the Lord be mindful of me.

You are my help and my deliverer;

Do not delay, O my God.
