God Alone a Refuge from Treachery and Oppression.

For the choir director; according F587 to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

1 My R1815 soul waits in silence for God only;

From Him is R1816 my salvation.

2 He only is my rock R1817 and my salvation,

My stronghold; R1818 I shall not be greatly shaken.

3 How long will you assail a man,

That you may murder him, all of you,

Like a leaning R1819 wall, like a tottering fence?

4 They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position;

They delight R1820 in falsehood;

They bless R1821 with their F588 mouth,

But inwardly they curse. Selah. F589

5 My soul, wait R1822 in silence for God only,

For my hope is from Him.

6 He only is my R1823 rock and my salvation,

My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

7 On God my salvation R1824 and my glory rest;

The rock of my strength, my refuge R1825 is in God.

8 Trust R1826 in Him at all times, O people;

Pour R1827 out your heart before Him;

God is a refuge for us. Selah.

9 Men of low R1828 degree are only vanity R1829 and men of rank are a lie; R1830

In the balances R1831 they go up;

They are together lighter than breath.

10 Do R1832 not trust in oppression

And do not vainly F590 hope in robbery; R1833

If riches increase, do R1834 not set your heart upon them.

11 Once F591 God has spoken; R1835

Twice F592 I have heard this:

That power R1836 belongs to God;

12 And lovingkindness is R1837 Yours, O Lord,

For You recompense R1838 a man according to his work.
