Psalm 89:38-52 [ Verse 48 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
38 But thou hast cast off (8804) and abhorred (8799), thou hast been wroth (8694) with thine anointed. 39 Thou hast made void (8765) the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned (8765) his crown by casting it to the ground. 40 Thou hast broken down (8804) all his hedges; thou hast brought (8804) his strong holds to ruin. 41 All that pass by (8802) the way spoil (8804) him: he is a reproach to his neighbours. 42 Thou hast set up (8689) the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies (8802) to rejoice (8689). 43 Thou hast also turned (8686) the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand (8689) in the battle. 44 Thou hast made his glory to cease (8689), and cast his throne down (8765) to the ground. 45 The days of his youth hast thou shortened (8689): thou hast covered (8689) him with shame. Selah. 46 How long, LORD? wilt thou hide (8735) thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn (8799) like fire? 47 Remember (8798) how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made (8804) all men in vain? 48 What man is he that liveth (8799), and shall not see (8799) death? shall he deliver (8762) his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah. 49 Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest (8738) unto David in thy truth? 50 Remember (8798), Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear (8800) in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; 51 Wherewith thine enemies (8802) have reproached (8765), O LORD; wherewith they have reproached (8765) the footsteps of thine anointed. 52 Blessed (8803) be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
